Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado seeks a Respiratory Therapist (RT) Specialist to deliver family-centered respiratory care on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO. The role emphasizes collaboration with patients, families, and inter-professional teams to provide compassionate, evidence-based care and education.

The position is full-time with varied shifts and relocation assistance for eligible candidates. Licensure (DORA), NBRC credentials and pediatric experience are required or preferred

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy/Care.
• Three (3) years of experience delivering respiratory therapy/care, including at least one (1) year of pediatric experience.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC.
• CPFT or RPFT credential required within one (1) year of hire if in the outpatient pulmonary function lab setting.
• BLS certification with at least 6 months remaining before expiration.
• ACLS required.
• PALS required within 90 days of hire.
• NRP required within 90 days of hire.
• State of Colorado DORA Respiratory Therapist license.
• Active membership in the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).

Responsibilities

• Functions independently in two or more areas.
• Role models integration of evidence into practice.
• Identifies gaps and participates in development or revision of policies and guidelines based on evidence.
• Communicates standard of care practices from professional organizations.
• Identifies gaps in best practice and participates in quality improvement with the interdisciplinary team.
• Analyzes information to support clinical decision making and care coordination.
• Maintains professional organization membership as required.
• Precepts and educates orientees, students, peers; acts as clinical resource.
• Demonstrates ability to serve in Charge roles.
• Assesses unit delivery of family-centered care with culturally sensitive, evidence-based practices.
• Coaches patient/family needs and promotes shared decision-making.
• Collaborates with the team to coordinate individualized care across the continuum.
• Designs departmental systems that support teamwork.
• Participates in safety and quality projects and disseminates findings.
• Provides direction and support to the team.
