Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; preferred.
• Master's Degree; preferred.
• Three years' technical experience; preferred.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT): Required in CA, OR, and HI
• Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license: Required in CA
• CPR/BLS certification: Required
• ACLS certification: Required
• Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification: Preferred
• Registered or Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care: Required

Responsibilities

• Assesses and documents the appropriateness of prescribed therapy; administers aerosol and oxygen therapy; manages arterial blood gases.
• Provides care to ventilator patients and assists in department record keeping and training of new staff.
• Performs pulmonary function tests and related procedures; monitors patient progress and respiratory rehabilitation.
• Updates diagnoses and communicates changes during patient stay; ensures documentation and charges are accurate.
• Assists with maintenance of equipment; supports physicians with bronchoscopy and other procedures.
