Job summary

Montclair State University seeks an Associate Director of Residential Education to coordinate programs, staff development, and training for 330+ student staff across campuses. You will supervise key staff, design learning objectives, and collaborate with campus partners to elevate the residential experience for 5,500+ residents.

The role emphasizes program metrics, onboarding, and ongoing improvements to the residential curriculum, with a focus on inclusive, supportive living environments.

Qualifications

• Masters degree from accredited college or university in higher education administration, student personnel services or related field.
• Six years of professional residence life or student affairs experience with supervision.
• Excellent time management and strong written and oral communication.
• Direct experience supervising staff, training and development, residence hall activities and educational programs.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Residential Student Support Specialist and Graduate Program Coordinator.
• Lead student staff hiring, training, and development for all academic year and summer positions.
• Develop and implement learning objectives, manuals, and training programs for student staff.
• Coordinate logistics for training events, speakers, and development activities.
• Oversee recruitment processes including interview design and hiring workflows.
• Maintain the student staff roster and manage onboarding with Human Resources.
• Evaluate performance of student staff through structured tools.
• Support student governance with Residence Hall Associations and councils.
• Collaborate with campus partners to enhance the residential living experience.
• Develop, monitor and evaluate the residential curriculum and annual improvements.
