Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates in Norfolk is seeking a Lead Research Data Coordinator to oversee day-to-day data coordination activities for oncology studies. This in-person role offers full-time employment with benefits and a compensation range reflective of experience.

Responsibilities include coaching Data Coordinators, data extrapolation, case report forms, monitoring, patient enrollment screening, and maintaining study records with strict regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in healthcare, life sciences, business or related field; bachelor’s preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical research data management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a data coordinator required.
  • SoCRA or ACRP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance and leadership to Data Coordinators.
  • Assist with workload balancing, study assignments, and prioritization.
  • Assist with onboarding and competency development for new Data Coordinators.
  • Keeps current all applicable patient reporting and tracking functions.
  • Extrapolates data, completes case report forms, and ensures timely data submission per SOPs.
  • Participates in monitoring and auditing activities.
  • Screen patients for potential study enrollment.
  • Assist with scheduling procedures to maintain protocol compliance.
  • Coordinate patient follow-up visits and timely data submission.
  • Maintain confidential research records per regulations.
  • Orders and maintains research supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Research Data Coordinator located in our Norfolk location.

Compensation Range: $20.65 - $39.95. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching, and peer leadership to Data Coordinators
  • Assist with workload balancing, study assignments, coverage planning, and prioritization of high‑risk data work.
  • Assist with onboarding, orientation, and competency development for new Data Coordinators.
  • Keeps current all applicable patient reporting and tracking functions
  • Extrapolates data, completes case report forms, and ensures timely data submission in accordance with SOPs
  • Actively prepares for and participates in monitoring and auditing activities.
  • May assist with screening patients for potential study enrollment
  • Assists with patient scheduling for procedures required to maintain protocol compliance
  • Assists with coordinating patient follow‑up visits and timely data submission
  • Maintains research records in a confidential manner according to all applicable regulations
  • Orders and maintains research supplies
  • Other duties as assigned
