Job summary

Virginia Oncology Associates, the leading cancer care group in Hampton Roads, seeks a Clinical Research RN in Hampton for a hybrid, full-time role. You will screen patients for eligibility, obtain informed consent, and enroll participants into protocols while coordinating care per trial requirements.

The position emphasizes data entry, regulatory understanding, and collaboration with sponsors, with oncology nursing experience preferred and Virginia RN licensure advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience in clinical research preferred.
• Experience with computer data entry and database management.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures such as protocols and regulatory documents.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
• Minimum of one year nursing experience, preferably in oncology.
• Current RN licensure in Virginia preferred.
• BCLS or ACLS certification required.
• OCN/SoCRA/ACRP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screen potential patients for protocol eligibility and present trial concepts to patients.
• Participate in informed consent and enroll patients on protocol.
• 75% of the job will be computer-based with direct patient care limited.
• Coordinate patient care in compliance with protocol requirements.
• Work directly with other research bases and sponsors.
• Oversee preparation of physician orders to ensure protocol compliance.
• Communicate with physicians regarding study requirements, dose modification and adverse events.

Compensation Range

$47,964.80 - $128,939.20. Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.

Responsibilities

• Screening potential patients for protocol eligibility and presenting trial concepts and details to patients
• Participating in the informed consent process and enrolling patients on protocol
• 75% of the job will be computer based and direct patient care is limited in a Clinical Research Coordinator role
• Coordinating patient care in compliance with protocol requirements
• Working directly with other research bases and/or sponsors
• Overseeing the preparation of orders by physicians to assure that protocol compliance is maintained
• Communicating with physicians regarding study requirements, need for dose modification and adverse event reporting
