Job Description
This position is responsible for facilitating the preparation, drafting, negotiation, and execution of contractual agreements with trial sponsors on behalf of Tampa General Hospital (TGH). The role involves coordinating efforts with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that TGH, its suppliers, and customers have clear, fair, and legally binding contractual agreements. The Lead Research Contract Analyst will also develop team resources and serve as an advanced expert in clinical trial agreements and contracts.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to reduce timelines for complex negotiations with sponsors.
- Coordinate with the Joint Research Office to ensure efficient execution of budgets and contracts.
- Recommend policies and procedures for contract operations, handling complex cases involving multiple providers, patents, licensing, major industrial contracts, or export control.
- Oversee the establishment of new contracting processes.
- Create and deliver educational content regarding the contracting process for investigators, study teams, sponsors, and other stakeholders.
- Review draft contract documents from sponsors/grantors, including Start-up Agreements, Work Orders, and Change Orders, ensuring compliance with guidance and departmental standards.
- Facilitate the negotiation and execution of Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), coordinating with legal and business departments.
- Draft and edit contractual agreements using standard templates and policies.
- Manage sponsor interactions and ensure contractual documents are processed, maintained, and tracked properly.
- Develop tools, templates, policies, and procedures related to contracts.
- Ensure timely delivery of quality contractual documents.
- Lead or participate in contract review meetings and client calls.
- Prepare management reports and contract approval timelines.
- Negotiate contract language to meet project requirements and industry standards.
- Maintain contractual records and provide updates as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BS, BA) required; Business Administration or Legal Studies preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years' clinical research experience required, with 1-2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Experience with legal language and advanced legal coursework preferred.
- Contract negotiation skills and knowledge of contract management principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and database software.
- Fluent in English, both oral and written.
- Excellent writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills.
- Full-time presence in the office required.
