Job description

Under the general supervision of the General Counsel and under direct supervision of the Assistant Chief Counsel, Office of Legal Services, Division of Legislation and Regulations, the Attorney IV is responsible to effectively perform sensitive and complex legal work of the DMHC. The incumbent will work with broad discretion and independence with minimum supervision. The incumbent will be expected to be expert in providing the legal functions necessary to administer the statutes and regulations authorized by the Knox-Keene Health Care Service Plan Act of 1975 (Knox-Keene Act) and interpret the laws contained within the Act to ensure that the DMHC is in compliance with relevant California law.

Leave Program (PLP) 2025 agreement:

Effective July 1, 2025, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the temporary Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each employee receive a temporary reduction in pay in exchange for PLP 2025 leave credits. The temporary salary reduction percentage and the number of PLP 2025 leave credits are based on the position’s associated bargaining unit. The salary range(s) included in this job advertisement do not include the temporary salary reduction.
