We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Lead Registered Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team at the Veterinary Emergency Center of Redlands. As a Lead Registered Veterinary Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality medical care to our animal patients and supporting our veterinary staff in delivering exceptional service. Your expertise, attention to detail, and passion for animal welfare will contribute to the overall success of our hospital.
At the Veterinary Emergency Center of Redlands, we specialize in emergency and critical care for animals. We’re passionate about helping your pet get back to normal as quickly and efficiently as possible. We are open 24 hours, 7 days a week to assist our clients and their pets when they need it most. We’re proud to serve all pet owners in Redlands and the Inland Empire with our veterinary services.
Supervisor Responsibilities
- Train new and existing employees.
- Perform assessments.
- Develop individualized training plans.
- Measure and maintain employee progress throughout training.
- Coach and mentor employees, promoting opportunity for growth.
- Manage staff scheduling, including shift coverage, approving PTO requests, and addressing call-outs.
- Ensure proper technical staffing levels for day-to-day operations.
- Work collaboratively with PM, RM, and MD to review, interview, and evaluate potential Veterinary Technician candidates.
- Coordinate with fellow leadership to develop policies and protocols according to the growing needs of the hospital.
Veterinary Technician Responsibilities- Patient Care and Medical Support:
- Assist veterinarians with patient examinations, procedures, and surgeries, ensuring all equipment and supplies are prepared and ready.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Perform various laboratory tests, including blood-work, urinalysis, and diagnostic imaging.
- Monitor anesthesia and patient vitals during surgical and dental procedures.
- Nursing and Rehabilitation:
- Provide compassionate nursing care to hospitalized and recovering patients, including wound management, IV catheterization, and fluid therapy.
- Educate pet owners on post-operative care, medication administration, and disease management.
- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Equipment:
- Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment, such as radiography and ultrasound machines.
- Assist with setting up and operating equipment for specialized procedures.
- Client Interaction and Education:
- Communicate with pet owners, explain treatment plans, providing updates on patient status, and addressing any questions or concerns.
- Educate clients on preventive care, nutrition, and proper handling techniques.
- Record Keeping and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, treatment plans, and medical histories.
- Ensure timely and complete documentation in accordance with veterinary standards.
- Team Collaboration and Leadership:
- Collaborate effectively with veterinarians, other veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and client service.
- Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to emergencies and assist with critical cases as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a Veterinary Technician in a specialty or emergency hospital is preferred.
- Prior management experience in a Veterinary Hospital.
- Credentialed Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a valid license in California.
- Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology or equivalent from an accredited program.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
- Proficiency in handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective client communication and team collaboration.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation.
- Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.

Salary: $26.00 - $34.00 an hour, to commensurate with experience.
