The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox, and residential substance abuse treatment , and skilled/long term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans everyday, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high quality treatment and care is delivered.

Salary

• $40.28 - $64.45 Hourly
• $83,790 - $134,063 Annually
• This position is a Pay Band C11

Why does the job exist?

Incumbent will be responsible for providing nursing care to meet the needs of the patients in the Adult Psychiatric Division/CARE.

Incumbent will be responsible for providing direction/guidance to direct care staff and implementation/direction of all nursing activities towards common hospital goals.

administer all types of medications to include oral and inject-able for the purpose of relieving anxiety, controlling behavior and treating physical problems.

perform various treatments ordered by the physicians to assure patient's optimal physical/mental well-being.

Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate would have:

• Experience caring for the mentally ill;
• Experience in providing comprehensive nursing care;
• Experience in administration of all types of medications;
• Must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act Section 61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20 NMAC, as applicable.

Minimum Qualification

Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and five (5) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid NM Drivers License.

Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate.

Working Conditions

This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in violate situations required.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
