AdventHealth Tampa is hiring a Respiratory Therapist for the night shift in Tampa, FL. The role involves initiating therapies, monitoring patients, and ensuring equipment readiness. Requires Associate's in respiratory therapy and RRT certification.

3+ years hospital experience and 1+ year critical care are preferred. BLS/ACLS, NBRC RRT, and state licensure are required. Excellent communication and supervisory abilities are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergencies, maintains airway, intubation, chest compressions, ventilator setup.
• Determines treatment requirements and dosages per orders; performs diagnostic tests as needed.
• Monitors patient responses to therapy and communicates with providers about adverse reactions.
• Educates patients and families on conditions and disease management techniques.

Job Description:

****Up to 20K Sign on Bonus****

• Initiates and conducts therapeutic procedures, maintains patient records, and selects, assembles, checks, and operates respiratory equipment.
• Responds to various emergency codes, performing duties such as maintaining the airway, intubation, chest compressions, and ventilator setup.
• Determines requirements for treatment, including type, method, duration of therapy, precautions, and medication dosages compatible with providers' orders. Performs diagnostic testing per facility needs.
• Monitors patients' physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes, consulting with providers if adverse reactions occur.
• Educates patients and their families about their conditions and teaches disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. [Required].
• Additional languages preferred. [Preferred].
• Possess a broad Respiratory knowledge, leadership ability, accepts responsibility, exercises authority, and functions independently [Required].
• Demonstrated supervisory skills [Required].
• Good communication skills for interdepartmental relationships [Required].

Education:

• Associate's in respiratory therapy or cardiopulmonary science [Required]

Work Experience:

• 3+ years experience in a hospital as an RRT [Required]
• 1+ years of critical care experience [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Preferred]
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) [Preferred]
