Job summary

AdventHealth Zephyrhills in Florida is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide care for patients, manage ventilators, perform blood gas analyses, and participate in rounds.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in respiratory care, an RRT credential, BLS and NRP, and is ready to work day shifts on a full-time basis with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of critical care experience
• 3+ years Respiratory Care experience
• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
• Active NBRC credentialed RRT required
• BLS CPR certification required
• NRP certification required

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care including aerosolized meds, oxygen, and ventilation.
• Draw, analyze and report blood gas results; respond to rapid responses and code blues.
• Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilators and document changes.
• Assist with bronchoscopy and capnography.
• Perform respiratory therapy treatments per orders and protocols.
• Participate in rounds and advise on patient care to reduce LOS.
• Supervise shift lead duties and staff assignments.
• Ensure quality control and maintenance in the blood gas lab.
• Identify cost-control methods while maintaining care quality.
• Complete ECGs and report errors to management.

Job Description:

Schedule: Fulltime Days

• Provides respiratory care to patients, including aerosolized medication, oxygen therapy, and ventilation.
• Draws, analyzes, and reports blood gas results. Responds to rapid response and code blue situations, performing CPR as needed.
• Manages ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive, and documents changes.
• Assists with bedside bronchoscopy and manages non-invasive Bi-level and end-tidal CO2 capnography.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and procedures per physician orders and department protocols.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds, providing input on patient care to impact length of stay and re‑admission rates.
• Assists with clinical instruction, precepts, and serves as a resource for lower‑level therapists.
• Reviews workload, makes staff assignments, and ensures completion of tasks when acting as shift lead.
• Follows regulatory requirements for the blood gas lab, including quality control and analyzer maintenance.
• Identifies and implements cost‑control methods while maintaining patient care quality.
• Completes and documents ECGs and ensures all errors and inefficiencies are reported to management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Technical/Vocational School [Required]

Field of Study:

• In respiratory therapy program prior to obtaining license or grandfathered in prior to licensure

Work Experience:

• 1+ years critical care experience [Required]
• 3+ years Respiratory Care experience [Required]

Licenses and Certifications:

• State Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
• Active NBRC Credentialed Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Required]
