Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas is seeking an ophthalmic technician with refractive laser center experience to provide diagnostic testing, assist in surgeries, and manage patient data and histories.

Must have an Associate's Degree in a related field and at least 3 years of keratorefractive experience; licenses for ophthalmic assisting or technologist credentials are required upon hire. A Bachelor's degree is preferred and opportunities for advancement exist.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's Degree in related field required.
• Experience: 3 years as a keratorefractive technician; more years may be considered in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

• Assist Refractive Practice Manager in setting priorities and tasks.
• Serve as lead or supervise other refractive technicians; monitor work for accuracy.
• Mentor and train laser center staff on refractive equipment and safety practices.
• Acquire patient history and record visual functions.
• Review LASIK procedures with patients and follow up post-operatively.
