Job summary

Sims Metal (Sims) is seeking a Maintenance Foreman to supervise and coordinate the loading, unloading, sorting, processing, and storage of recyclable materials at our outdoor facility.

You will manage equipment, enforce safety policies, train staff, and ensure productivity and compliance with company standards.

This role requires 3–5 years in related industries, a High School diploma, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3–5 years in recycling, scrap metal, manufacturing, industrial, transportation, or related industry.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise employees involved in receipt, handling, processing, and shipment of recyclable materials.
• Plan and allocate use of material handling equipment (conveyors, cranes, loaders, forklifts, tractors, trucks).
• Monitor workflow to meet efficiency and productivity goals.
• Direct and oversee recordkeeping for materials received, processed, and shipped.
• Enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate assignments, schedules, and performance expectations to staff.
• Train, coach, and motivate employees to achieve objectives.
• Maintain timekeeping, attendance, and production records.
• Coordinate with other supervisors and departments for smooth operation.
