Millwood Hospital, part of Universal Health Services (UHS), in Arlington, TX, seeks a Lead Recreation/Activity Therapy Counselor for planning and delivering activity services within an interdisciplinary treatment team. The role includes defining treatment goals and providing ongoing patient care, observation, and modeling for patients across ages.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree (or Masters preferred) in Art, Music, Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline.
Experience: 3 years of related experience with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
Licensure: Certification or licensure in art, recreation, or music therapy.
CPR and CPI Training: CPR Certification and CPI Behavior Training required before starting work; First Aid certifications also required.

Responsibilities

Plan and implement activity services for assigned program as part of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Define and implement treatment goals and provide continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline

Masters degree in Art Therapy (preferred)

The hospital is less than 35 minutes from DFW International Airport. The Lead Recreation/Activity Therapy Counselor is responsible for planning and implementing activity services for assigned program, which involves defining and implementing treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team and providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling to patients.

SHIFT DIFF PAY AVAILABLE FOR SOME SHIFTS.

Must be available to attend the Full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: Monday - Friday (8 AM - 5 PM)

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Art, Music, or Recreation therapy, humanities, social work or related therapeutic discipline, or a Masters degree in Art Therapy, preferred.

Experience: Three (3) years of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness, preferred.

Licensure: Certification or licensure by state and/or national governing body in of the following areas: art, recreation, or music therapy.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of CPI Behavior Training prior to beginning work. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours. Current First Aid certifications.
