Job description

  • Performs lifeguarding duties and limited management functions.
  • Ensures the safe operation of the pool, filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water test.
  • Provides maximum surveillance of pool area and rescues swimmers and administers first aid as required.
  • Distributes and balances work- load assuring that each employee has enough work to keep busy.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and oversight in program operations.
Duties

Requirements
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good physical health, freedom from communicable disease IAW current Army policy.
  • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
  • Work hours may involve weekdays, weekends, holidays and/or evenings/nights.
  • In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • Lifeguards must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either corrected (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected).
  • Conducts safety/health rule briefings to groups prior to use of the pool.

A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following
  • Possess and maintain the following certifications (A copy of each certification must be submitted at the time of application):
    • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent; i.e. Star Guard or Ellis)
    • American Red Cross Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional
    • CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED)
    • First Aid
  • Possess one or more Instructor rating (A copy of each certification must be submitted at the time of application):
    • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGTI) authorization
    • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) authorization
    • Aquatic Exercise Association Instructor (AEA) authorization
    • Adapted Aquatic Instructor authorization

  • This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
