Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Specialist on the Reconciliation Assurance team in Columbus, OH. The role supports high-risk reconciliations and leverages Power BI reporting to mitigate financial statement risk.

Hybrid work requires on-site presence at least two days per week and emphasizes problem solving, curiosity, and continuous improvement. Ideal candidates have 4–6 years of accounting experience, an accounting/finance degree, and progress toward CPA.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in accounting, finance or business administration; accounting major and degree preferred.
• Progress towards CPA preferred.
• Four to six years of related accounting experience; insurance experience preferred.
• GAAP and/or STAT knowledge and/or regulatory requirements. Complex financial statement preparation, including consolidation of companies/subsidiaries. Principles of taxation and the related impact on financial statement preparation. Accounting and/or business computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Establish and implement new or revised accounting policies and procedures.
• Prepare and analyze the most sophisticated financial and regulatory statements for the company and business areas.
• Develop and submit sophisticated accounting and financial transactions for accurate reporting.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of all reports, forms and data for internal/external clients.
• Recommend actions when analysis reveals unfavorable trends or deviations.
• Stay updated on GAAP and STAT regulatory requirements affecting financial data.
• Suggest changes to improve workflows and efficiency.
• Lead design of new/enhanced systems and processes within assigned areas.
• Prepare complex pro forma data for regulatory compliance.
• Assist management in applying financial data to solve problems.
• Prepare state and supplemental reporting requirements.
• Provide complex financial information to auditors and regulators.
• Prepare special reports and presentations.
• Serve in a group leader capacity on projects.
