Job summary

TRIDENT SYSTEMS LLC is seeking a Senior Software Technical Lead in Fairfax, VA to guide a software team for an aerial surveillance system supporting a DoD customer. The role emphasizes technical leadership, integration with external sensors and hardware, and delivering mission-critical capabilities.

The candidate will oversee the software development lifecycle, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure high-quality delivery while maintaining security and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional software development experience.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
• Java programming experience / skills.
• Working knowledge of the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience with distributed publish/subscribe software architectures.
• Experience with Linux operating systems.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams and customer stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for a software development team across the SDLC.
• Lead architecture, design, and implementation for integrated aerial surveillance and sensor systems.
• Serve as technical lead and SME for real-time surveillance and sensor integration.
• Mentor software engineers and guide development activities.
• Decompose system requirements into executable software tasks and solutions.
• Support design reviews, peer reviews, and architecture discussions.
• Coordinate with systems engineering, QA, cybersecurity, and integration teams.
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies into existing baselines.
• Support customer technical discussions, demonstrations, deployments, and tests.
• Develop technical documentation for software designs and interfaces.
• Collaborate with Product Owners and Program Mgmt to manage backlogs.
• Monitor delivery against program objectives and mitigate risks.
