Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to design, build, and support a near real-time transactional cache platform that powers APIs and digital experiences. The role emphasizes architecture, performance, reliability, and operational support of the cache ecosystem, reducing UniVerse workloads while delivering fast access for services.

You will lead CDC pipelines from UniVerse to PostgreSQL, model MongoDB documents, optimize queries, and mentor teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of data engineering or data platform development experience.
• 5+ years designing and implementing enterprise-scale data platforms and distributed systems.
• Experience with UniVerse or UniData databases.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL development.
• Experience with CDC, replication, and near real-time data movement.
• Experience with production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with Linux/Unix environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of a near real-time transactional cache platform.
• Design and support CDC pipelines that replicate data from UniVerse into PostgreSQL.
• Develop pipelines to transform relational data into MongoDB documents.
• Define cache-ready domain models for high performance and scalability.
• Own platform reliability, observability, and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and establish CDC and cloud-native data platform standards.
• Develop runbooks, dashboards, and alerting for production caches.
