Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Technologist, Lead performs quality control on images acquired in Diagnostic Radiology, prior to them being submitted to the Radiologist for interpretation. The Lead ensures radiographic images are of high quality and provides instruction for image repetitions when necessary. They ensure all information is accurate and available to the Radiologist when images are submitted. This position also coordinates workflow within Radiology, facilitating timely image acquisition and reporting of results.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Performs technical quality review of images, ensuring high quality, diagnostic adequacy, and correctness according to protocol.
• Verifies accurate labeling of images and manages patient information during digital acquisition, transmission, and storage.
• Ensures all relevant information, including order requisitions, clinical history, and previous reports, accompany current images for interpretation.
• Coordinates workflow within Radiology to facilitate image acquisition and result reporting.
• Reports Emergency Department delays to leadership.
• Assumes leadership for patient flow in Radiology after hours.
• Acts as an onsite radiology resource in the absence of supervisors or managers, notifying the Administrator on Call as needed.
• Collaborates with Information Systems (IS) to ensure efficient operation of Radiology systems and software.
• Assists other modalities with IS issues and acts as a resource across departments.
• Identifies opportunities for quality and workflow improvements and works with leadership on implementation.
• Performs radiographic examinations and supports the department as a resource.
• Coordinates downtime procedures for Radiology with leadership and IS analysts.
• Resolves PACS exceptions and manages the audit list.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology required.
• AHA BLS Provider CPR required.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
• Experience with healthcare information systems and Epic preferred.
