Job summary

The University of Maryland, College Park is seeking an Assistant Director, Radiation Safety/RSO to lead the Radiation Safety Program for the campus and related institutions. The role reports to the Associate Director and influences regulatory strategy and policy across the university.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Seven (7) years experience in operational health physics program.
• Three (3) years experience directing a professional health physics staff.
• Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Radiation Safety Program for the University of Maryland College Park campus and affiliated institutions.
• Advise senior leadership on regulatory strategies and technical direction of the program.
• Coordinate and manage the Radiation Safety Committee and program activities.
• Oversee staffing, budget, training, and equipment related to radiation safety.
