Job description

Overview

The Lead Radiologic Technologist oversees technical procedures, patient care, and workflow in Interventional Radiology (IR) across multiple modalities. They assist IR physicians with procedures in invasive labs, CT, US, and bedside IR procedures to ensure safe and effective patient care. The technologist performs diagnostic and interventional procedures using various imaging and interventional equipment within invasive labs and supports procedures in other modalities involving IR.

Qualifications

Certifications:

  • Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)

Education:

  • Certificate of Completion: Radiologic Technology
  • Associate's Degree in a Related Field

Work Experience: Interventional procedures, Rad Tech, Cardiac monitoring

Responsibilities
  • Perform all essential functions of the Interventional Radiology Technologist.
  • Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for staff, management, and physicians.
  • Participate in scheduling technical equipment service and maintenance under the guidance of the Service Line Coordinator.
  • Develop training programs and oversee staff onboarding and training, ensuring completion of orientation and competencies.
  • Assist in updating department policies and protocols.
  • Stay past scheduled hours if IR procedures run late; shifts as assigned.
  • Conduct equipment checks to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Manage supplies, including checking expiration dates and availability.
  • Maintain updated physician preference lists.
  • Collaborate with physicians and staff on technical issues to ensure quality results.
  • Act as Super User for invasive lab equipment and inventory, organizing training on new equipment.
  • Cross-train and perform as invasive technologist in Cath Lab, EP, and Cath Prep and Recovery as needed.
  • Function as scrub circulator and monitor during procedures, assisting physicians with complex devices.
  • Process digital imaging, ensuring proper titling and labeling, and educate staff on viewing and transferring images.
  • Work closely with IR team to develop workflows, add procedures, coordinate education, and patient care.
