Job summary

Google is seeking a Principal Engineer for Question Handling in Spanner, overseeing a broad set of capabilities from language syntax to full-text search. You will guide architectural direction, drive long-term technical strategy, and mentor the team to deliver high-quality, scalable query technology across global environments.

You will collaborate with architects and engineers to advance product plans while delivering robust, highly available systems that meet demanding enterprise needs.

Qualifications

• Four year college education in Software engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with SQL databases and RDBMS.
• Familiarity with OLTP and OLAP concepts.

Responsibilities

• Regulate and control all the query design tasks across Spanner destinations to deliver an outstanding query engine.
• Provide regional expertise to guide early designs and speed project progress with close technical oversight.
• Drive the advancement and execution of the query system to empower client business objectives.
• Reevaluate and rearchitect parts of how the query engine interfaces with Spanner.
• Collaboration with engineering and product teams to drive product direction.
• Mentor and develop Senior Engineers and Engineers in the Query Handling group.
