Job summary

We are seeking a Software systems engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, operated by UT-Battelle, to develop state-of-the-art software for quantum computing and simulation in diverse disciplines. The role sits within the Quantum Computational Science Group of ORNL’s CSED and emphasizes prototyping, testing, and transitioning research concepts to production systems.

The position requires a BS in CS/EE, strong Python and C++ skills, and at least five years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team to move research concepts from exploratory prototype to delivered system.
• Create, test, and maintain software elements of these systems.
• Support modelling and simulation activities to exercise software elements.
• Support field exercises to demonstrate system capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership for software development teams
