Who We Are
We are a diverse team of Quality Engineers and Scientists supporting programs and projects in multiple technical divisions across the Institute, including Mechanical Engineering, Space Science and Engineering, Defense and Intelligence Solutions, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, and more.
Objectives Of This Role
- Provide oversight of compliance to NASA mission assurance requirements flowdown for prime and subcontractor project team member organizations for individual NASA science missions.
- Create Mission Assurance Requirements compliance matrices, Mission Assurance Implementation Plans.
- Act as the primary quality assurance point of contact for the NASA project office team supporting an individual NASA space science mission.
- Schedule and lead Failure Review Board / Material Review Board actions as required.
- Coordinate with assigned parts engineers, materials engineers, contamination control engineers, flight safety engineers, and others to ensure timely production and delivery of contractual mission assurance document deliverables.
- Communicate safety and mission assurance status of all team member organizations through weekly and monthly reporting to the NASA project office team, as required, as well as during milestone project review events.
- Support the implementation of the established AS9100 Quality Management System.
Daily And Monthly Responsibilities
- Implementing an AS9100-based quality management system.
- Provide direction to projects teams implementing contractual safety & mission assurance requirements.
- Develop Project Quality Plans based on project specific and QMS based requirements.
- Report status of activities weekly and monthly to key stakeholders.
- Lead diverse project quality teams to implement mission assurance requirements, processes and develop associated documentation.
Requirements
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related engineering degree field.
- Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ certification) or similar is a plus.
- 6 years: Experience as a Quality Engineer or Quality Manager in a registered AS9100 or ISO 9001 manufacturing environment is required. Aerospace manufacturing or high reliability electronics fabrication experience are preferred.
- 6 years: Experience working in large project teams is required. Must have excellent communication skills to work with project staff, management, and customer representatives.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally on an occasional basis to support milestone reviews and site visits at partner organizations is required.
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality management system standard, IPC J-STD-001 w./ space requirements, NASA 8739 workmanship standards, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is strongly preferred.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
Special Requirements
Work assignment is in Boulder, Colorado. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
Job Locations: Boulder, Colorado
Salary Range: $79,518.00 - $156,894.00
