Job summary

SMC Corporation of America is seeking a Quality Engineer to provide quality engineering, continuous improvement, and documentation support within the organization. The role requires creativity, problem-solving from first principles, and leadership of teams through complex processes.

The candidate will interpret customer requirements, manage data analysis using SPC, and lead quality initiatives, including supplier QA, audits, and cost of quality improvements. Travel up to 10% may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/technical engineering or equivalent.
• Proficient in applying project management principles and documentation.
• Proficient with statistics-based problem solving and SPC.
• GD&T understanding and tolerance design knowledge.
• Experience with FMEA processes and quality systems.
• Capable of leading problem-solving teams and mentoring.
• Strong communication using office software.
• Travel up to 10% for training and customer support.

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer requirements to meet outputs.
• Communicate technical specs to customers.
• Create/analyze data using KPIs, SPC, and product documentation.
• Assist in ISO 9001 quality system development and audits.
• Lead tasks and processes within a team; mentor coworkers.
• Coordinate internal/external technical support for customers.
• Provide supplier QA solutions and corrective actions.
• Oversee inspection/test procedures on the production floor.
• Monitor quality system compliance and CCS resolutions.
• Support cost-of-quality initiatives and continuous improvement.
