Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of precision-machined components and assemblies.
  • Verify compliance with drawings, GD&T, specifications, and quality standards using precision measurement equipment.
  • Prevent nonconforming material from impacting production, product quality, or customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct FAIs for new suppliers, engineering changes, and NPI.
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality, Engineering, and Procurement to resolve issues and improve supplier performance.
  • Review, document, and support disposition of nonconforming materials.
  • Investigate defects, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain traceability records within SAP and quality systems; support internal audits.

As a Lead Quality Control Inspector, you will serve as the final safeguard between precision-engineered components and the advanced systems trusted by the world's leading semiconductor manufacturers. Your expertise will directly influence product quality, manufacturing efficiency, customer satisfaction, and Veeco's commitment to a zero-defect culture.

In this hands‑on technical leadership role, you will partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to drive excellence across incoming inspection, supplier quality, product qualification, and continuous improvement initiatives. From supporting New Product Introductions (NPI) to preventing costly production disruptions, your contributions will have a measurable impact on Veeco's ability to scale, innovate, and deliver industry‑leading solutions to customers worldwide.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive Quality at the Source
  • Perform incoming, in‑process, and final inspections of precision‑machined components, assemblies, and electro‑mechanical systems.
  • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, specifications, and quality standards using precision measurement equipment.
  • Prevent nonconforming material from impacting production, product quality, or customer satisfaction.
Support Supplier Quality & Product Introduction
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) for new suppliers, engineering changes, and New Product Introductions (NPI).
  • Partner with Supplier Quality, Engineering, and Procurement to resolve quality issues and improve supplier performance.
  • Review, document, and support disposition of nonconforming materials.
Drive Continuous Improvement
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify quality trends and improvement opportunities to enhance product quality, throughput, and operational efficiency.
Provide Technical Leadership
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor for inspectors and manufacturing personnel.
  • Champion quality best practices, process consistency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure Compliance & Traceability
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, FAIs, nonconformance reports, and traceability documentation within SAP and quality systems.
  • Support internal audits and ensure compliance with quality management requirements and company standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 6 years of quality inspection experience in a precision manufacturing environment with proven experience inspecting tight‑tolerance machined components and electro‑mechanical assemblies.
  • Local candidates only (relocation not provided).
Preferred
  • Associate's Degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Quality, or a related field.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), or similar certification.
  • Experience in semiconductor capital equipment, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, medical device, or other highly engineered product environments.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • CMM operation and programming experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and statistical quality methodologies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Strong proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Proficiency using precision measurement and inspection equipment.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional metrology and inspection methodology.
  • Experience conducting First Article Inspections (FAIs) and supplier qualification activities.
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC), sampling plans, process capability, and quality analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a passion for solving complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and leadership teams.
  • SAP, ERP, and quality documentation system proficiency.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment while maintaining the highest quality standards.
Salary and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $62,780-$92,077, plus a bonus opportunity. We will consider your location, experience, and other job‑related factors when determining your pay.
