Position Description:

The Lead Quality Control Engineer (LQCE) manages the QC process on projects, exercising judgment in quality control recommendations, policy implementation, and handling field and office quality matters. They may mentor less experienced QC engineers or perform QC activities on multiple smaller projects. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Position Qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
  • Technical proficiency in specifications, standards, and codes across disciplines (architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical).
  • Software skills: Microsoft Office (Excel templates), Prolog, Primavera, AutoCAD.
  • Experience in reviewing and updating project quality logs and providing comments to the QC manager.
  • Ability to oversee removal/replacement of non-conforming work and ensure compliance with contracts.
  • Familiarity with contracts, plans, specifications, and codes; capable of managing RFIs.
  • Experience coordinating trade partner inspections and participating in punch list processes.
  • Ability to audit QC procedures and promote continuous improvement and lessons learned.
  • Conduct safety and housekeeping inspections through the SAFE program.

Physical Work Classification & Demands:

Moderate exertion, including lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequent movement such as walking, kneeling, and climbing. Must be able to operate a vehicle, read blueprints, and work in various environmental conditions including temperature extremes and noisy outdoor environments.
