Reports to: Director of Software Engineering

Summary:

Our client is seeking a Lead Python Developer to join their AI team. This role is ideal for a strong back-end developer with expertise in Python and Azure, who can also contribute to full-stack development. You will lead design, architecture, and code reviews across a high-performing team of front-end and AI engineers, while remaining hands-on with development. While this is a leadership role, it does not include direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using Python, .NET C#, and React/Next.js on Azure
• Lead technical decision-making and provide guidance on architecture and best practices
• Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality, security, and performance optimization
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to define and deliver new features
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and foster a culture of technical growth
• Optimize application performance, including database queries, front-end rendering, and API interactions
• Implement and uphold security best practices in authentication, authorization, and data protection
• Work with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and automate deployments on Azure
• Stay current with emerging technologies and advocate for their adoption

Required Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering
• 5+ recent years of hands-on Python development experience
• Experience with Azure SQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases
• Proven experience leading technical teams and participating in architectural decisions
• Strong background in code reviews, design patterns, and building scalable applications
• Proficiency in RESTful APIs and microservices architecture

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with AI/ML or data science projects
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Container Apps)
• Prior experience working in professional services environments
• Experience building applications for a global user base
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
