We’re looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to drive backend development, optimize data infrastructure, and support critical integrations across our ecosystem. You’ll play a pivotal role in modernizing our backend architecture to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency, while lead ing transformative initiatives such as:

• Enhancing CRM and subscription management systems to improve customer engagement and retention.
• Scaling and optimizing high-volume transactional data systems that power our business.
• Adopting a Customer Data Platform (CDP) to unify and leverage customer insights.
• Integrating global data solutions to enable better analytics and decision-making.
• Implementing a new analytics front end to provide actionable business intelligence.

This is a hands-on lead ership role where you’ll balance technical development with strategic architecture decisions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technology with business goals. As the company continues to scale, this position presents opportunities for greater lead ership responsibility, including growing and managing an expanded engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain scalable, high-performance backend systems usingPython, PostgreSQL, and AWS infrastructure.
• Develop and optimize data pipelines, CDP integrations, and analytics implementations to enhance data tracking, personalization, and insights.
• Ensure security, reliability, and efficiency in high-volume transactional systems that support subscriptions and customer interactions.
• Build and enhance API integrations and backend services to improve system interoperability and real-time data access.

TechnicalLeadership & Modernization

• Define best practices for data management, system architecture, and analytics integration to drive scalability and performance.
• Leadbackend modernization efforts, ensuring our technology stack supports future growth and innovation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, data, and product teams to align backend capabilities with business objectives.

Team Growth & FutureLeadership Potential

• Work closely with backend and frontend engineers, contributing to the technical vision and roadmap for future growth.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and technical excellence.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, includingleadership responsibilities, with a strong track record of designing and scaling data-driven systems.
• Deep expertise inPython, PostgreSQL, and AWS, with experience optimizing backend performance, security, and reliability.
• Proven ability to work with high-volume transactional data systems, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and resilience.
• Experience integrating Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) and global data solutions, designing robust analytics pipelines.
• Strong balance of hands-on development and strategic technicalleadership, with a track record of making architecture decisions that drive business impact.
• Experience applying AI and machine learning techniques to backend development, including data processing, automation, and predictive modeling to improve efficiency and insights.
• Background in subscription-based businesses, with an understanding of recurring revenue models, customer lifecycle management, and data-driven retention strategies.
• Bonus: Experienceleading small engineering teams or mentoring developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
