Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Plano, TX is seeking a Lead Software Engineer within the Commercial & Community Banking division to drive secure, scalable technology products. You will be a core technical contributor shaping critical solutions across multiple domains.

You will lead design, development, and deployment of cloud-based microservices on AWS using Python and IaC, while advancing AI-assisted engineering standards and robust CI/CD practices across teams.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts.
• 5+ years applied experience.
• Experience designing AWS cloud-native architectures (microservices, event-driven, serverless).
• Backend development experience with Python (FastAPI/Flask).
• Deliver serverless workloads on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway).
• Containerization and deployment to ECS/Fargate and/or EKS with autoscaling and rollout strategies.
• Design and operate data stores (RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB) and performance tuning.
• Use caching (ElastiCache/Redis) to optimize throughput and latency.
• Build Infrastructure as Code with Terraform/CloudFormation.
• Own CI/CD with CodePipeline/CodeBuild/CodeDeploy or GitHub Actions and automated tests.
• Implement observability and reliability (CloudWatch, X-Ray/OpenTelemetry).
• Enforce AWS security/compliance: least-privilege IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager/SSM.

Responsibilities

• Execute creative software solutions through design, development, and troubleshooting to solve complex technical problems.
• Deliver end-to-end AWS cloud-native, microservices-based applications using Python and modern engineering best practices.
• Design, build, and evolve distributed systems on AWS using Lambda, ECS/Fargate, and/or EKS.
• Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
• Applies knowledge of SDLC tools to improve automation and reuse of patterns across teams.
• Own CI/CD with automated tests and quality gates for reliable releases.
• Implement observability and reliability with CloudWatch/X-Ray/OpenTelemetry, SLIs/SLOs, and incident response.
• Operate and improve production: investigate incidents, perform RCA, automate remediation, optimize data stores.
