Role Summary

The Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional Purchasing professionals to bring Rivian’s engineered products to life. In this role, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing and managing ADAS components (radar, lidar, USS) that are critical to R1T, R1S, and Electric Delivery Vehicle Autonomy. As a Lead Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the awarding of new business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with our engineering counterparts to push the envelope of our technical requirements. You will also take the lead in making sure Rivian can meet its cost targets, suppliers deliver to our aggressive timelines, and parts are received at the highest level of quality. In our team, we expect our people to own every aspect of the sourcing process from start to finish and everything in between. This role reports to the Sr. Group Manager of the ADAS team within the Vehicle Team of Supply Chain Organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead RFI/ RFQ/ RFP and strategic sourcing process
  • Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps
  • Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDA’s, General Terms & Conditions and Production Supply Agreements
  • Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities and develop a sourcing strategy and roadmap for Rivian stakeholders
  • Perform detailed analysis of quote submissions based on cost breakdown form data
  • Successfully close complex negotiations including commercial terms, statements of work, capacity supply and pricing
  • Drive and implement cost reductions on prototype and production vehicles through leveraged negotiations to achieve vehicle cost targets
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics
  • Review Engineering, Design & Development (ED&D) costs with Engineering leads to ensure best-in-class cost is attained.
  • Manage vehicle budget in collaboration with Rivian Finance team
  • Work closely alongside Program Management to support prototype requirements, execute against build milestones and track sourcing progress
  • Support Supplier Quality plant audits and technical reviews

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering
  • 5-8+ years of strategic sourcing, procurement, or purchasing experience
  • 5-8+ years of relevant experience and knowledge, both technical and commercial, managing business relationships with large suppliers in an Automotive, Electronics or high-volume manufacturing business
  • Strong analytical ability to break down complex problems and data sets to derive meaningful, actionable results
  • Comfort in working independently and in teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to understand Engineering and Design direction and provide focused supply-chain solutions accordingly
  • Experience with automotive, electronic, or consumer products, and the design and manufacture thereof
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of integrity and desire to own one’s role and contributions to the cross-functional team

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $149,700 - $187,100 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
