Job summary

K&S Manufacturing Ixonia, Wisconsin is seeking a skilled Punch Press Setup Operator to lead setup, operation, and troubleshooting of punch press equipment in a metal fabrication setting. You will collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to ensure on-time, high-quality part production.

Responsibilities include setup verification, tooling selection, program review, and first-piece inspections, while mentoring operators and maintaining strict safety and quality standards

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 3+ years setting up and operating punch presses in metal fabrication.
• Strong knowledge of CNC punch press setup and operation.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, setup sheets and work orders.
• Proficient with precision measuring tools and inspection gauges.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and conventional punch press equipment to produce sheet metal components per specs.
• Select and verify punches, dies, tooling, and fixtures based on material and job requirements.
• Review setup sheets, programs, blueprints, and work instructions prior to production.
• Verify machine programs and settings for accurate setups and tolerances.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related tools.
• Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and programming issues to maintain production flow.
• Provide day-to-day guidance to operators and assist with setup changes and program selection.
• Train and mentor staff on punch press setup, safety procedures, and quality standards.
• Maintain clean, organized work area and ensure proper documentation.
