Job summary

The Missouri State Public Health Laboratory is seeking motivated scientists to join our mission of protecting public health in Jefferson City, MO. You will perform high‑complexity diagnostic testing and operate advanced instrumentation in a state‑of‑the‑art facility, contributing to statewide health outcomes.

Responsibilities include validating data in LIMS, maintaining quality control, and mentoring peers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required or substitutions allowed.
2–5 years of relevant experience for Senior Laboratory Scientist may be substituted by equivalent qualifications.

Responsibilities

Perform high‑complexity diagnostic testing on clinical and environmental samples.
Operate and calibrate advanced laboratory instruments; perform routine maintenance.
Review raw data in LIMS to ensure accuracy before reports are released.
Document daily quality control checks and monitor environmental conditions to meet CLIA, ISO 17025, and CAP standards.
Assist with validation of new testing platforms and laboratory‑developed tests (LDTs).
Provide technical mentorship and coordinate daily team workflows for peers.
Guide external partners on specimen collection and test interpretation; participate in working groups or grant projects.
Handle other duties as assigned.
