Job summary

UCSF is seeking a Study Therapist to deliver manualized psychedelic drug-assisted therapy within a clinical research protocol. You will supervise sessions, monitor participants during dosing, and perform supportive psychotherapy across multiple modalities in a multidisciplinary team.

Role emphasizes advanced clinical judgment in high-risk cases, strict GCP adherence, and collaboration with investigators, coordinators, and medical staff in a Schedule I IND study.

Qualifications

• Advanced skills in individual motivational interviewing and psychotherapy.
• Strong knowledge of laws and ethical standards in the profession.
• Advanced understanding of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in mental health.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with active listening and counseling skills.
• Ability to collaborate with health care providers in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient evaluations and assess suitability for care, with referrals as needed.
• Formulate and implement patient treatment plans; conduct individual, family and group therapy.
• Lead protocol-based sessions including dosing visits and integration talks.
• Monitor vital signs and mental status during dosing, escalate to Study MD as needed.
• Participate in program development, supervision, and regulatory compliance.
