Job summary

Job description

The primary function of the Lead Technician is to maintain a therapeutic and safe environment in a residential setting to help residents with their recovery. This position functions as an active part of the residential treatment team, providing continuous care, monitoring, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to adult residents with a severe and persistent mental illness.

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties, all employees are expected to conform to the following:

  • Facilitate weekly meetings, outings, and groups with residents.
  • Complete all daily tasks assigned. Complete all shift responsibilities assigned to specific shift, be it 7-3, 3-11 or 11-7 shift
  • In an emergency or disaster this individual will be required to remain on site around the clock until relief staff arrive and supervisory staff give permission to leave
  • Keep up with daily and monthly written documentation as required including but not limited to Critical Incident Reports, daily log, residential notes, and missing person reports.
  • Ensuring residents' meals are prepared in accordance with the menu prepared by the nutritionist. Staff must follow all requirements of joint commission for food prep and handling along with having Serv safe training by PRC staff. Residents may assist with food prep and clean up under the guidance of the residential staff
  • Must be flexible and objective while working with residents with mental health and/or co-occurring disorders.
  • Must be able to recognize signs and symptoms of use of substances and administer urine drug screens.
  • Demonstrates co-occurring competency by having knowledge of signs and symptoms of persons suspected of using substances.
  • Provide Recovery Oriented Residential Care.
  • Perform on-call duty for crisis intervention and for staff supervision and consultation.
Qualifications:
Education:

Associate's degree preferred or two years' experience working with persons with a mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders.

Experience:

The individual will have at least two (2) years of experience working with persons with a mental illness or co-occurring disorders and experience in management or proven ability to lead peers.

Training:

Must be able to successfully complete CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration, and ACT training.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Must possess basic understanding of human nature.
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and able to effectively deal with change.
  • Assist clients in establishing and obtaining personal goals and must be able to react to change in a positive manner.
  • Have or be willing to learn basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of signs and symptoms of persons using substances.
  • Must be capable of learning and using the electronic health records system.

Transportation:

Must have reliable transportation

Must be at least twenty-five (25) years of age.

Must have a current Florida Driver's License and maintain regularly.

Supervisory Relationship(s):

The work environment is fast-paced and consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. The populations cared for will include patients who are confused, delusional, irrational, agitated, or uncooperative. Most of the work is performed while sitting, although the work may require occasional standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. A small amount of travel may be required for meetings, etc., to another PRC location.
