Job summary

Lehigh Heavy Forge Corporation is seeking an experienced Prototype Machinist to build parts per detailed blueprints, collaborate with Engineering and Production, and train junior staff. You will set up processes for prototype and production, program CNC lathes/mills, and help with fixture design to ensure tight tolerances and quality.

The role requires strong GD&T knowledge, AutoCAD proficiency, and hands-on experience with heat treating, tooling, and measurement equipment.

Qualifications

• Must possess knowledge of tolerancing, including GD&T, to explain to coworkers
• Must be proficient in all skills of Prototype Machinist-Intermediate Level
• Must be proficient in AutoCAD to layout programming points
• Thorough knowledge of heat treating process
• Advanced knowledge of cutting tool selection and speeds/feeds
• Working knowledge of geometry and trigonomety relationships
• Proficient in algebraic equations and relationships
• Able to train Entry and Intermediate Level Prototype Machinists in operation of listed equipment
• Regular attendance required

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints and specs to determine machining needs and plan layouts
• Set up manufacturing processes for prototype and production environments
• Troubleshoot manufacturing problems with Engineering and Shop teams
• Operate and program CNC lathes/mills and hob for helicals
• Design and fabricate hydraulic/pneumatic fixtures for prototype/production
• Assist Advanced Quality Planning teams with cost reduction ideas
