General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is seeking a Lead Radiation Therapist to join our team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.

Under the supervision of the Chief Radiation Therapist, this role involves providing various radiation therapies to patients as prescribed by physicians, in accordance with established standards and practices. The Lead Radiation Therapist coordinates and directs the daily activities of the department, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies, procedures, and standards.

Primary Duties:

1. The role is approximately 75% technical and 25% administrative, encompassing the full range of duties expected from a Senior Radiation Therapist.
2. Ensures accurate radiation therapy treatments, supervises staff therapists, and oversees verification, documentation, and execution of prescribed therapies.
3. Assists in training new hires, evaluating staff competencies, providing performance feedback, and ensuring adherence to teaching processes.
4. Participates in QA programs, performs equipment checks, monitors dose verifications, and ensures compliance with ACR and Joint Commission standards.
5. Coordinates with physicians, physicists, and other specialists, manages patient scheduling, addresses treatment complications, and serves as a resource therapist for complex cases.

Qualifications:

• Vocational/Technical Diploma from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology Program (required)
• Bachelor's degree (B.S.) (preferred)
• 5-7 years of experience as a radiation therapist, including previous leadership or targeted experience
• ARRT Radiography Certification (mandatory)

This position offers a hiring range of $41.98 - $75.62.
