We are looking for a Lead Propulsion Engineering Test Technician to join our team. The goal of a Lead Propulsion Engineering Test Technician at Wisk is to ensure that Wisk’s internally developed electric propulsion system is tested to meet specification and airworthiness. You will be part of the Propulsion Test team that is responsible for developing and building test rigs and procedures for the propulsion system of a certified commercial aircraft.

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Fremont, CA office.

In this role you will be highly integrated into the propulsion test and design teams to develop our electric powertrain meant for commercial passenger carrying aircraft. We are looking for a technician that doesn’t mind rapidly changing work assignments and can self-start when given tasks that may have limited direction.

What you will do:
  • Participate in the building and commissioning of propulsion test rigs
  • Troubleshoot and repair mildly complex electrical and mechanical systems
  • Assemble, build, or fabricate test stands; however, this is not an assembly technician role on a production line
  • Run acceptance and verification tests of the propulsion systems. These are large machines with up to 900 lbf of thrust!
  • Work safely with rotating equipment and high voltage systems
  • Maintain and organize lab space with proper aerospace level tool control
  • Coordinate logistics moving equipment and aircraft components between Wisk facilities
  • Keep clear documentation of test results, failures, and non-conformities of aircraft components
Requirements:
  • 5-6 years of professional experience as a technician in a development program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid computer skills to operate in-house developed testing software, work in production systems environments, send e-mails, chats, etc.
  • Comfortable working in a workshop to fabricate/modify parts made of metals, plastics, or wood
  • Have a can-do attitude and always willing to jump on a task
  • Electrician-style skills to connect up power supplies, data acquisition systems, and communication lines
Nice to haves:
  • Aerospace or military experience
  • High voltage experience (>500V)
  • Working in an electric vehicle development environment
$50 - $59 an hour
Compensation and Benefits:
In addition to offering a great work environment and the opportunity to be part of the team making electric autonomous flight a reality, at Wisk, we offer excellent total rewards which include a competitive base salary, annual bonus, long term incentive, 401K, health benefits, and much more.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay Range the Company expects to pay: $50 - $59 per hour - The starting base rate within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
