Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Propulsion Engineer to own the TVC system on X-BAT, from concept through flight and operational support. You will coordinate with controls, airframe, flight test, and mission teams to ensure robust performance.

The role requires leading testing, defining interfaces, and managing reliability while collaborating on system integration with engine and airframe. This on-site position offers full-time employment with compensation and equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in aerospace propulsion or flight control systems with subsystem ownership.
• Strong proficiency in Python for performance analysis and data processing.
• Experience with hardware development, test planning and flight-test support.

Responsibilities

• Act as the single-threaded owner for the TVC system from concept to flight.
• Define and manage system requirements, performance goals, and interfaces.
• Design and integrate vectoring mechanisms with engine and surrounding structure.
• Lead ground and flight testing, instrumentation planning, data collection and evaluation.
• Analyze control authority, vectoring bandwidth, and dynamic response across flight envelope.
• Collaborate with controls team to shape vectoring logic and ensure closed-loop performance.
• Own fault management, failure investigations, and reliability strategies.
• Represent TVC system in design reviews, checkpoints, and customer briefings.
