Job summary

Apogee Engineering seeks a mid-senior Project Engineer to lead technical execution of rugged military-grade embedded computing systems and automated test equipment. You will coordinate cross-disciplinary teams, translate customer requirements into engineering plans, and drive projects from inception to successful completion.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 7+ years of engineering experience in embedded systems, rugged electronics, aerospace, or defense environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead the project team’s technical activities across electrical, mechanical, software, test, and systems engineering disciplines.
• Translate customer requirements, objectives, and constraints into actionable engineering plans and system-level approaches.
• Oversee system architecture development, subsystem integration, and technical decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure engineering design efforts meet functional, environmental, and performance requirements for ruggedized military-grade electronics and embedded systems.
• Coordinate and guide reverse-engineering, sustainment, and modernization activities for legacy systems.
• Serve as the primary technical interface with customers, stakeholders, and internal leadership.
• Monitor technical progress, risks, and issues; implement mitigation strategies to maintain project alignment with scope, schedule, and cost objectives.
• Lead engineering reviews, technical documentation development, and configuration management efforts.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering environment focused on innovation, quality, and mission readiness.
