Job summary

Terracon is seeking an experienced archaeologist to provide fieldwork, laboratory analysis, and reporting for diverse projects in Kansas. The role includes leading a field crew, conducting complex testing and data recovery projects, and preparing proposals and MOAs.

You will also engage with clients and stakeholders to ensure high-quality results and compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate holds a graduate degree in archaeology or anthropology with 5+ years of related experience,

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related archaeology/anthropology experience required.
  • Intimately familiar with cultural history of the region.
  • SOI qualification required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety rules and participate in pre-task planning.
  • Maintain quality standards on all projects.
  • Conduct fieldwork and write more complex reports for testing projects.
  • Manage a field crew to perform fieldwork to high standards.
  • Serve as PI on survey, testing, and small data recovery projects.
  • Conduct archival research and ensure proper data collection.
  • Identify artifacts and understand stratigraphy.
  • Ensure field forms and samples are complete and accurate.
  • Prepare proposals and MOA documents.
  • Present papers at professional conferences.
  • Promote pre-task planning on projects.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for Authorized Project Reviewer readiness.

Graduate degree in Archaeology/Anthropology (MA/MS/PhD)
