Job summary

What to Expect in LEAD EHS (Leadership, Expertise & Accelerated Development):

The LEAD Operations EHS Program is a 2-year rotational program with four 6‑month rotations designed to develop and grow your skill set. Each EHS LEAD Program Member will complete a Health & Safety rotation, an Environmental rotation, a supervisory location rotation, and a final rotation that involves leading a small site EHS team. Each rotation builds off the learning from the prior role.

This position is visible and interacts with all employees concerning health and safety, assessing hazard conditions, and implementing practices to reduce those hazards. The EHS Program develops and maintains a proactive and collaborative approach at the site to create a healthy and safe working environment while building your skills in lean, 5S, continuous improvement technologies, US regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA & state requirements), audit, incident investigations, training, data management, coaching, team building, leadership/supervision and more.

In addition to your rotational roles, your program experience will include leadership and technical training, contributions to program operations, exposure to senior leadership, social & volunteer activities, and development of a lifelong network of professionals and friends.

Locations:

Individuals joining the program in the US must be willing and available to accept rotations at any of our locations based on business needs. Locations may include Boston, MA; Erie, Grove City, Emporium & Pittsburgh, PA; Greenville, Duncan & Columbia, SC; Kansas City, MO; Fort Worth, TX; Germantown, MD; Las Vegas, NV; and Salem, VA. Relocation lump sum and other travel benefits are provided.

Requirements – We are looking for:
  • Four‑year degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Systems Engineering or other related technical degrees.
  • Graduation by May/June 2027.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and/or relocate within the United States.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.; no current or future work status authorization or visa sponsorship needed.
Desired:
  • Overall GPA ≥ 3.0 (4.0 scale).
  • Prior work or internship experience in an EHS‑related role.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong commitment to a career in EHS.
  • General understanding of safety in a manufacturing environment with desire to continue learning.
  • Prior intern, co‑op, or research experience in engineering, EHS, safety, industrial hygiene, manufacturing, or related areas.
  • Ability to learn new skill sets quickly and make an impact in new roles and situations.
  • Demonstrated program/project management skills and experience leading teams.
  • Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom; ability to communicate & tailor messages up and down the leadership chain.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate problems clearly and simply; strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to solve problems, contribute to creative solutions and challenge the status quo.
  • Resilience & ability to pivot with changing directives and metrics.
  • Proactively learns new tools, identifies opportunities for improvement, and promotes their adoption.
  • Desire to lead people and processes as a front‑line supervisor.

The salary rate for this role is currently $72,000 – $72,000. The actual salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
