Job Overview
The Lead Production Technician (LPT) will support the startup and ongoing operations of our new, state-of-the-art facility in North Charleston, SC. They will be the mechanical expert responsible for the automated assembly line during their shift, addressing downtime, waste, and line performance. They will oversee Production Technicians, ensuring optimal performance, minimal waste, and efficient operations. The role offers growth opportunities, including training in Taiwan.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervise technical operators in Medical Device Assembly Operations.
- Prioritize safety, enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with quality policies and procedures.
- Analyze machine performance and address issues proactively.
- Manage line performance metrics and communicate issues to supervisors.
- Maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) each shift.
- Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
- Mentor and coach Production Technicians to enhance mechanical skills and line management.
- Suggest improvements for safety, quality, and productivity.
- Oversee training and approve final training for new hires.
- Assist other lines or departments as needed.
- Ensure compliance with procedures and records management.
- Perform tests and inspections according to standards.
- Resolve operational issues to maintain performance.
- Enhance technical knowledge of assembly equipment.
- Support evaluation, installation, and validation of new equipment.
- Lead or participate in improvement projects.
- Take on additional tasks to support operations and company success.
- Perform duties ethically and in compliance with healthcare laws and regulations.
Skills and Qualifications
- 2-3 years experience operating complex automated manufacturing equipment.
- Proven career progression into advanced technical roles.
- Experience in a startup environment (preferred).
- Extensive knowledge of automated manufacturing machinery, including servos, cams, pneumatics, motors, gears, pumps.
- Understanding of vision systems, sensors, drives.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to identify root causes.
- Desire to lead on the production floor.
- Experience in regulated industries (highly preferred).
- Familiarity with SAP and MES systems (preferred).
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation.
