Job summary

Mutual of America Financial Group is seeking a Lead Product Owner in New York (Hybrid) or Remote to drive the product strategy for finance-related platforms. You will own and prioritize the backlog, collaborating with business and IT stakeholders, and leading cross-functional teams across product areas.

The role requires 7+ years in IT/Product within financial services, strong analytical skills, experience with FIS OmniRecordkeeping and related tools, and SAFe/Agile proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Information Systems preferred.
• 7+ years of experience as an IT Business Analyst, Product Owner, or similar in Financial Services.
• Experience supporting FIS OmniPlus Recordkeeping platform.
• Strong business and technology acumen with analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling collaboration across teams.
• Creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex problems.
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
• Experience with cross-functional product teams.
• Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.

Role Summary

The Office of Technology and Digital Services (OTDS) Department is seeking a Lead Product Owner to join the New Products and Corporate Functions product team. This role primarily supports the Finance department and is responsible for new product implementations, tax related processes, supporting fund trading operations/activities, and optimization of nightly batch processing. The position owns and prioritizes the product team backlog and works cross‑functionally with business units, external business partners, and control functions (audit, compliance, legal). Success requires strategic thinking, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate complex ideas to senior leadership and cross‑functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Business and IT Product Managers to define and communicate the product vision and roadmap for the product team.
• Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring clarity and alignment with strategic goals, and adjusting to evolving requirements.
• Lead and coordinate delivery of complex initiatives that cross multiple product teams, departments and vendors.
• Support the overall implementation of new products and services by leading OTDS's activities, including planning and architecting related technology solutions.
• Support fund trading operations.
• Support tax related processes.
• Lead analysis and optimization of nightly batch process performance.
• Write detailed business requirements/user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Troubleshoot and identify system related production problems and coordinate the evaluation and implementation of system enhancements.
• Recommend proposed solutions and/or enhancements to improve and optimize processes, workflows, performance, and system functionality.
• Manage risk associated with new solutions and/or proposed enhancements.
• Ensure alignment with technology standards and industry best practices.
• Conduct cost-benefit and risk assessment analyses for proposed solutions to determine suitability.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance and/or Information Systems preferred.
• 7+ years of experience as an IT Business Analyst, Product Owner, or a similar role within Financial Services.
• Experience supporting FIS OmniPlus Recordkeeping platform.
• Strong business and technology acumen with sharp analytical and problem‑solving skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration and influence across diverse teams.
• Creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time‑sensitive problems.
• Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.
• Comfortable in working with large, multi‑dimensional projects and experience in working within cross‑functional product teams.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office product suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with OmniTrade and OmniPay
• Preferred experience working with FIS Omni Recordkeeping platform
• Experience with fund trading operations
• Experience with tax form (1099, W2, 5498) generation
• Certified Agile Professional and/or Product Owner certification is preferred.
• Proficient in Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
• Proficient with Atlassian's Jira project management and Confluence collaboration software.

The salary range below describes the minimum to maximum base salary range for this role. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus; whereby total compensation may exceed this range depending on individual and / or company performance.

Base Salary Range: $113,300 - $170,000
