Overview
The Atlassian Design System (ADS) team, a Pacific team spanning Australia, New Zealand, and the US West Coast, focuses on evolving our design system to enhance design craft and industry standards. The ideal candidate resides on the US West Coast and can align with PT hours.

About The Team
The ADS team leads a major brand refresh impacting millions of users, focusing on UI Foundations, Components, and Accessibility. We champion tooling and engagement strategies that promote high adoption among designers and developers, improving work happiness and velocity.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Design, you will oversee our components, UX patterns, and system strategies to enable enterprise-scale platform experiences.

• Define and promote the design vision across multiple products, ensuring high adoption and tangible customer value.
• Collaborate with designers and developers to optimize tooling, communication, and engagement strategies aligned with ADS OKRs.
• Develop our ADS Components strategy to support enterprise needs and foster component reuse across Atlassian.
• Lead end-to-end programs that enable thousands of designers and developers to craft beautiful software.
• Partner with other senior designers to harmonize design efforts and align with ADS mission.
• Work closely with engineering leads to influence roadmaps and identify key opportunities.
• Maintain high standards in visual and interaction design, and mentor others in systems design and craft quality.
• Share your passion for design systems through leadership, industry engagement, and team development.

Qualifications
You bring 12+ years of experience in design systems and product design, particularly at the enterprise or complex organizational level. You are a systems expert with strong collaboration skills, developer knowledge, and a user-centered approach. Your communication skills support inclusive feedback and stakeholder engagement.

Compensation
Our pay ranges are above market averages, with specific zones for US locations: Zone A: $216,500 - $288,700; Zone B: $194,900 - $259,800; Zone C: $179,700 - $239,600.
