Job summary

Kalepa in New York, NY is seeking a Lead Product Designer to own complex, cross-cutting problems across the platform. You’ll shape what we build and how it looks, working with the Head of Product and engineers to raise the bar for design quality.

You will lead design from discovery to delivery, design data-dense workflows for underwriters, define how AI appears in the product, and establish scalable patterns to grow our platform responsibly while mentoring the team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience designing digital products for B2B, data-rich, or productivity tool companies.
• Experience designing AI-driven tools and AI-influenced workflows.
• Experience in InsurTech, FinTech, or other highly regulated industries.
• Experience shaping and contributing to design systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for the platform’s most complex, cross-cutting problems from discovery through delivery and iteration.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Product, product managers, and engineers to add polish, clarity, and structure to workflows.
• Define how AI appears in the product, including how we show confidence, surface sources, and keep underwriters in control of decisions.
• Establish scalable patterns so the platform can grow across new lines of business without fragmenting the experience.
• Mentor teammates, raise the design bar, and drive shared design standards across the team.

Job description

• We’re looking for a talented and versatile Lead Product Designer to join our team and help improve the new experiences of our platform. You’ll own complex, cross-cutting problems, shape what we build as well as how it looks, and raise the bar for design quality across the team
• You’ll collaborate closely with our current Lead Designer, product managers, and engineers to bring polish, clarity, and structure to complex workflows
• This role reports to the Head of Product
• Lead design for the platform’s most complex, cross-cutting problems, from discovery and research through delivery and iteration
• Turn ambiguous problems and new business areas into clear product direction, partnering with product, client success, and sales to balance user needs and business goals
• Design data-dense workflows that help underwriters find what matters and act on it with confidence
• Define how AI shows up in the product: how we communicate confidence, surface sources, and keep underwriters in control of decisions
• Establish scalable patterns so the platform can grow across new lines of business without fragmenting the experience
• Use AI and rapid prototyping tools to move quickly from idea to validated concept
• Raise the design bar across the team through critique, mentorship, and shared standards
