Job description

To assist the supervisor in accomplishing production requirements per company, customer and government requirements.

Essential Position Responsibilities
  • Orientate new team members to their jobs including basic dress requirements and good manufacturing practices, safety aspects, job assignments and sanitation procedures and policies; also serves as a mentor.
  • Communicate with team members, supervisors, management, QA and USDA regarding any information about the line.
  • Complete required written and electronic reports and assist with timekeeping management of line/department employees (schedule rotations, breaks, etc.).
  • Set up equipment for the line daily for start‑up, ensuring standards and quality are met within the department.
  • Work on the line with product and monitor belts to ensure that the proper speed is set.
  • Ensure that goals are met daily and help set new goals to improve morale within the department and with organizational skills and compliance with USDA.
  • Participate as a member of the Team, pursuing ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings and foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues (direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.).
  • Identify areas lacking cohesiveness, bring them to the attention of the team leader and work with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues; actively look for ways to reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
  • Apply Simmons Operating Systems principles and responsibilities, maintaining familiarity with the systems and communicating concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and the position’s role in supporting these systems, considering the impact of individual actions on the systems and communicating concerns and improvement ideas.

Physical Activities

Frequent lifting/carrying of up to 50 pounds; standing; bending & twisting of the waist and neck; squatting; climbing stairs & ladders; kneeling; crawling; power grasping; pushing/pulling; reaching above, at and below shoulder level; repetitive motion of shoulders, arms and hands. Constant walking, grasping, fine manipulation with hands, use of vision & hearing, talking.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

STD: waterproof gloves, sleeves, waterproof slip‑resistant footwear and ear plugs.

Technical Experience

May need to obtain and maintain a company‑issued forklift and pallet jack license.

Industry Experience

Preference for poultry or food processing organization.

Competencies

Ability to communicate from team member to upper management; maintain a positive attitude; multitask and perform various jobs. Excellent communication skills and decision quality, able to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
