Job summary

Danfoss Ames, IA is seeking a Lead Process Technician/Process Technician (1st shift) to lead the assembly cells from setup to testing, ensuring safe, efficient production of Gear pumps and motors. You will troubleshoot equipment, support process changes, implement poka-yokes, and collaborate with Process Engineers, Maintenance, Quality and other teams on shop floor improvements.

Qualifications

  • AA degree or technical school certificate.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of quality and problem-solving tools (PPAP, PFMEA, 8D).
  • Computer skills (Office, PLC, test stands, CAD).
  • Familiarity with TPM and SMED techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment in the assembly process.
  • Provide line support and escalate manufacturing issues for safety and quality.
  • Troubleshoot daily issues and empower others with tools and SOPs.
  • Assist process changes and problem-solving on the shop floor.
  • Assist in implementing new processes and gathering data for improvements.
  • Help design and implement manufacturing controls such as Poka-Yokes.
  • Lead or assist on tactical implementation projects.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers, Maintenance, Controls, Calibration, and other teams.
  • Assist Quality team and cover some Quality Tech responsibilities.

The Impact You'll Make

We have an immediate opportunity for aLead Process Technician/Process Technician 1st shift to join us at ourAmes, Iowa location in the US. The Process Technician will be responsible for the assembly process in assembly cells from set-up to testing.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Monitors & trouble shoots electrical & mechanical equipment used in the assembly process to build Gear pumps, motors, and components
  • Provide line support for the assembly cell and is the next level of escalation after the Team Coordinator for manufacturing issues related to safety and process quality
  • Troubleshooting daily issues and eliminating issues from recurring by giving others the tools to resolve the issues themselves, using visual aids, SOP's, training, etc.
  • Assist in the daily activities of implementing process changes and problem solving on the shop floor
  • Assists in the Implementation of new processes and process changes by gathering data, time studies, making observations about the process, and communicating ideas to improve results
  • Help design and implement manufacturing controls, such as Poka-Yokes on assembly lines
  • Leads or assists on tactical implementation projects
  • Works closely with the Process Engineers, Maintenance, Controls, Calibration, as well as other support functions
  • Assist Quality team and cover some Quality Tech responsibilities
What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of an AA degree or equivalent from Technical School; and or related experience on Danfoss products.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of manufacturing processes, process aids, and poke yokes
  • Working knowledge of quality/problem solving tools (PPAP, Capability studies, PFMEA, Gauge R&R, 4-Step, 8D, Fishbone)
  • Computer skills, (Microsoft Office, PLC, test stand, CAD modeling)
  • Familiarity with TPM and SMED techniques
  • Customer Service mindset and the ability to stay calm under pressure are necessary traits.
  • Ability to read electric and hydraulic schematics, ability to understand complex hydraulic systems
  • Ability to utilize diagnostic equipment (e.g., measurement devices for current, pressure, flow, temperature, torque, etc.)
  • Excellent safety record and approach to behavioral based safety using proper PPE are requirements.
  • Able to interact with all levels of organization (Shop floor to Management)
