Foth is currently seeking a Lead Process Engineer who is team-focused, innovative, and results-oriented, with a desire to contribute to our client's success and seek new learning opportunities. This position is based at our client location in Battle Creek, MI.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all mechanical design/engineering work, including machine layout, sanitary process piping systems, bulk material handling, dilute phase conveyor, dust collection, and utilities.
- Gather field data and conduct field investigations in a manufacturing environment as required.
- Provide hands-on installation and startup support for projects.
- Develop and write proposals detailing concepts, deliverables, effort hours, and costs.
- Promote best solutions for delivery via accurate and cost-effective engineering.
- Create equipment specifications and construction documents.
- Use AutoCAD for design reviews and presentations.
- Interface with clients and vendors regularly.
- Review equipment bids.
- Support quality control of mechanical packages, including drawings and specifications.
- Collaborate with project teams, including partner contractors and clients.
- Delegate work and hold team members accountable.
- Provide technical coaching and mentoring.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in dry bulk handling, processing, and packaging.
Preferred Experience:
- Proficiency with 2D AutoCAD.
- Experience in food processing, including sizing and selecting valves, pumps, and heat exchangers.
- Knowledge of P&ID's and combustible dust system integration.
- Design experience with bulk material handling equipment, sanitary piping systems, and dilute phase conveyors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years leading engineering teams.
- 15+ years of process engineering in food handling and processing.
- Experience in packaging system design and integration.
Additional Recent Experience:
- Concept layout in 3D.
- Engineering consulting in food industry operations.
- Industrial HVAC with allergen control, pipe stress analysis, food sanitary standards, fluid flow, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and material and energy balances.
