Job summary

Raytheon in McKinney, TX is seeking an experienced principal-level software engineer with real-time embedded systems, EO/IR algorithms, and system-level integration. The Principal Software Engineer Lead will be the product owner of High Energy Laser Beam Director, coordinating across engineering teams to ensure progress across multiple baselines.

This onsite role requires U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

Typically requires a STEM degree and 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Minimum 5–8 years of experience developing or supporting real-time embedded software for mission-critical systems.
Experience implementing real-time algorithms and SW/HW integration on embedded platforms.
Active and transferable Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required for access.

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior technical leader and review work across engineers.
Review code, validate algorithms, and influence engineering practices.
Develop CONOPS, specification trees, and multi-CSCI decomposition for complex issues.
Lead agile software scope across program baselines and align with product-line objectives.
Collaborate with systems engineers for integration, verification, and delivery across multiple programs.
